Got a dream?
Feeling overwhelmed by it?
What’s holding you back from your accomplishments?
too busy?
too young?
too late?
not enough time?
not enough know-how?
Why not?
10 Steps to Make Your Dreams Come True
1. Take Note
I’m a list maker. It keeps me focused until completion. Plus, it feels great to look back over a list that is finally done.
Post your goal where it’s visible. It will serve as a reminder and keep you accountable and on track.
Write down your goal and the steps to reach it.
2. Dress the Part
Working from home, I know firsthand how this one makes a difference.

Your clothes send a signal, not only to others, but to you. Loungewear means lounging. Take the extra few minutes to dress for success. It will serve you well.
3. Do Something for Yourself
Enjoying life keeps us creative. Take time each week to read a new book, enjoy a hobby, or experience something new.
4. Do Something for Someone Else
It’s amazing how doing for others keeps us motivated. It keeps us grounded and gives us opportunities to share our talents and skills with someone else. We are called to serve. And as we serve, we are blessed.
5. Join the Club
As a writer, I’m involved in several critique groups and organizations. Not only have these networks served as my own personal university, but through them, I’ve made many lifelong friends.
Find others who share similar goals and join them. They keep you encouraged and provide tons of information to help you accomplish your goals.
6. Feed it
Learn something.
Attend conferences, subscribe to magazines, join an online forum, etc.
From museums to days at the park, I’ve discovered resources and learned new things from some of the most surprising places.
Books, tours, discussions, and observations draw you that much closer to discovering your purpose and accomplishing your goals.

7. Tune in
I love talk radio. I also enjoy uplifting music and words to keep me encouraged.
Tune out the negative and tune in to positive thoughts.
8. Break Out
As a schedule-oriented stay-at-home mom, I can easily end in a rut.
That’s why I attempt to break out of my weekly habits and find something new.
Schedules are great and so are clean toilets. But sometimes, we need to break away from our daily. The laundry can wait.
9. Catch some Zzzzzzz
This one should go without saying, but as someone who’s guilty of staying up all night with a book, getting a good night’s sleep is crucial to our success.
We all know what sluggish feels like: not good.
Make it a priority to go to bed on time. Take a few extra minutes to wind down and relax. Your body will thank you for it and your mind will reward you with better clarity and focus.
10. Take a Step TODAY
So why not?
Our goals are lofty and time-consuming and difficult–and that’s why we too often give up and only dream about it. So don’t be overwhelmed by the many steps or great leaps to get there.
Instead, take it one bite at a time. Your list is a guide and each day is just one more step toward the YOU you are called to be.
