God incarnate. . .
It’s the most difficult idea to grasp. The idea that God wrapped Himself in humble flesh and dwelt among us to be found in appearance as a man.
To walk with us.
To wash our feet.
To be as we are.
I’m often consumed by the idea of such massive love–and at the same time, confused by it.
How can love be that powerful and all-consuming?
And yet, I lose sight.
Somewhere in the middle of daily, my grip slips from its focus until I’ve wandered off down a trail I never meant to take.
I’m ashamed of my frailties and weaknesses. I’m often disappointed in how easily I lose sight of what matters and how quick I am to frustrations over petty events of the day.
Just between us. . .
Jesus stands between us.
Not only as our Mediator between God and man, or man and man, but to intervene between our distortions and His reality.
That’s what I’m so desperately in need of–a Savior from myself. To shine the light of truth across the years of my darkened deceits.
[Jesus] stands between us and God, and for that very reason he stands between us and all other men and things. He is the Mediator, not only between God and man, but between man and man, between man and reality.–Dietrich Bonhoeffer The Cost of Discipleship
Jesus came as our Mediator to stand between us and our own deceits. [tweetable]

Hi Mitzi, I love this, especially the words:
. . . to intervene between our distortions and His reality.
. . . To shine the light of truth across the years of my darkened deceits.

…a Savior from myself…
I love that line, Mitzi. I need Him, too.
