We love family game night at the Smith House, and over the years, we’ve built quite a game collection. But usually, we end up playing one of the classics. We love the old school board games. And many of our all-time favorites are games that have been around for quite some time. So here’s a list of classic board games we think every kid should play:

Who doesn’t love this childhood classic?
As a kid, this was my favorite. I always wished I could actually live in Candy Land as I played.
This is a great game to get everyone thinking. It’s a perfect way to teach kids about the process of elimination and using what you know already to figure out the rest.
My youngest son loves this game, and I like how you have two different tracks to play.

Ok, so Scrabble has always been a favorite for this word nerd. But seriously, it’s a great game to practice spelling and build vocabulary with kids.
We have a really good time with this one, and sometimes play it over and over again.

I think I’ve played just about every one of those games and my favorite as a child was Chinese Checkers. I adored that game. These days it’s scrabble. My husband and I love to play that game and the grands love it, too.
