Famous Inventors Kids: Looking for famous inventors kids will love discovering, too? These picture book biographies will get them using their own imagination.

Do you want to spark your child’s creativity and inspire them to think outside the box to explore new ideas? Share a few stories about past inventors and how their innovative ideas changed the world.

I’m always inspired by another person’s story, and I love to learn just how others used their imagination to create something amazing that changed our world today.

So today, I’m sharing a few biographies about some of the most famous inventors.

Select a few of these books to share with your child the next time you read together. As you read each story, discuss the struggles as well as the triumphs. Make it a point to identify where each inventor demonstrated persistence, imagination, and hard work. We often forget just how much work is behind any success.

These stories are great opportunities for us to share with our children the value in hard work and sticking with it. And they’re wonderful ways to stir their minds and make connections with their own passions and dreams, too.

10 Inventors Every Kid Should Know

1. Benjamin Franklin – As a founding father, Benjamin Franklin is an important person of American history and is certainly one everyone should know. His inventions include the bifocals, the lightning rod, the Franklin stove, and many other contributions to our world.

2. Alexander Graham Bell -Though Alexander Graham Bell is best known for inventing the telephone, he did so much more to advance our progress in science and technoology. He is noted for developing one of the earliest versions of a metal detector exploring the idea heating the home with solar panes, and another idea  that eventually led to the tape recorder and magnetic media.

3. Johann Gutenberg – Have you ever considered the importance of print on our society? Johann Gutenberg introduced printing to Europe along with his own mechanical printing press. Our world has never been the same.
