Need help keeping the car clean and organized? Here are 5 Tips to Keep the Mom Mobile Cleaner.

Keep Car Clean

I never thought I’d say this, but I actually love my minivan. It’s been a full circle sort of experience for us, as my husband and I began our marriage with sports cars, then moved to the more economical friendly, and then on to the minivan and an SUV.

With a busy family, the minivan–AKA Mom Mobile–makes the most sense for us, and now that it’s been paid off for a few years, it’s the type of affordable transportation we love.

However, keeping the Mom Mobile clean can be a nightmare. And between carpool and everyday errands, the Mom Mobile can get pretty messy and, well, a little on the smelly side, too.

That’s why I’m sharing my fresh tips for all of our busy moms out there. Here are just a few ways to keep the  Mom-Mobile organized, and smelling better, too.

5 Tips to Keep the Mom Mobile Cleaner

1. Keep It Contained

Designate a small container as the Mom Mobile trash collector. That way, all those empty takeout containers and other mysterious contents we find crammed under the car seats can be disposed of immediately.

2.  Keep it Daily

Just like our homes, it doesn’t take long for us to clutter our car space, too. Avoid the extra baggage and unwanted clutter by cleaning the inside of the car daily. Have everyone grab their own belongings as they exit and make it a point to empty the trash container everyday as well, too.

3. Keep it Dust and Smudge Free

I’ll admit my Mom Mobile has seen its better days, and there are plenty of other modes of transportation that look a whole lot shinier and brand new. But when I clean her up, she looks fabulous. And with just a few wipes around the doors and dashboard, I’m able to keep my Mom Mobile in pretty good shape.

Here’s an easy tip for keeping the Mom Mobile smudge-free: Stash a box of wet wipes in the storage compartment and while you’re stuck waiting in traffic or at a drive-thru window, hand everyone a wet wipe to wipe down the surfaces around their seats. It’s an easy way to keep down the fingerprint smudges and dust on the dashboard.

4. Keep it Vacuumed

If you don’t have one, I suggest investing in some sort of portable vacuum cleaner. Once a week, hand it off to each family member and have them take a quick turn vacuuming around their seat. Shake out the car mats and the floor of your Mom Mobile will stay cleaner.

5. Keep it Fresh

To me, there’s nothing I love better than a the clean fresh fragrances of the Yankee Candle® car fragrance products. I’ve used the Yankee Candle® products in my home for as long as I can remember. And, as soon as I discovered their car fresheners, I began to use them, too.

You can pick these up at Walmart in the Automotive Care department. I like the The Car Jar® Ultimate fragrances.  Just read the directions carefully to make sure you’re using them properly–it’s easy–and when the fragrance level shrinks below the label, you know it’s time for a new one.

What about you?

I love to use the Yankee Candle® car fragrances I find at Walmart to keep my car smelling fresh. Share with us how you keep your Mom Mobile smelling fresh and clean, too!
