Getting Started
I was really nervous when I first began Bible journaling. I was so afraid of messing up my new journaling Bible, and I wanted my first journal entry to be, well, perfect. It was such a problem, that it took me quite some time to even make one mark in my Bible. I had this vision of what I wanted my journaling pages to look like and, since I was so paralyzed by the fear of making mistakes, I couldn’t even attempt to try or experiment with anything on the actual page.
That’s when I realized I had lost the point of Bible journaling completely. Instead of journaling the Truth that God was showing me through Bible study, I was creating another obstacle to keep me from worship and enjoying the promises from His Word.
After that, I dove in and started journaling. The more I journaled, the more I realized that smears and unintended marks were just part of the process. Let’s face it. Our lives can get messy. Yet, we worship in the middle of our messes and we realize the power of His presence while we’re working through each circumstance, trusting in His promises, every step of the way.
