For all of us, Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember those who’ve sacrificed all for the freedoms we enjoy.  But may we also remember those who are left behind–sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, best friends and brothers–who continue living it out each day.

Memorial-Day-Serve

Memorial Day: Living the Legacy

How can we continue their legacy?

Where can we serve others in our own lives to honor their sacrifice?

So often we are consumed by our busyness and lose sight of the many service opportunities these freedoms provide.

This week, let’s look for everyday moments where we can lend our own service to someone else. Let’s use our gifts and abilities to help others and live the legacy–to honor and celebrate those we remember this day.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.–-John 15:13

Today I thank God for the brave soldiers who gave it all for our freedom and pray comfort and peace for their families.  May we also serve where God has placed us in a way that will somehow convey our own gratitude for such a price.

Mitzt is was beautifully written as always. Thank you for including the video. It was very moving. Out of all of the places I have ever been, Arlington National Cemetary is the most patriotic.
